On Sunday, September 16, thousands of Broadway fans took to Times Square to celebrate the 16th Annual Broadway on Broadway Concert. This year’s Concert was presented by Continental Airlines and was hosted by Hairspray star - and former NSync band mate - Lance Bass. Cast members from such shows as “Les Miserables,” “Curtains,” “Chicago,” “Mary Poppins,” “RENT,” “Legally Blonde,” and “The Drowsy Chaperone” along with many other shows performed, so you can imagine just how excited fans of the musical theater genre were to be a part of all the excitement. Appearing onstage this year were such performers as Lea Salonga, Chazz Palminteri, Debra Monk, Laura Osnes, Max Crumm, Adriane Lenox, Julia Murney, Tamyra Gray, Ashley Parker Angel, Beth Leavel, Carolee Carmello, Ashley Brown, Gavin Lee, Jennifer Hope Willis and Orfeh as well as many others.
As an added bonus, this year’s Broadway on Broadway Concert boasted the Broadway’s Biggest Fan Contest wherein fans were asked to submit sixty-second videos showing why they are Broadway’s biggest fan, and the Broadway Fan Zone which gave Broadway fans the chance to enjoy the festivities in a VIP area right near the stage for the standing-room-only section that was open to the first 100 fans that came dressed as their favorite Broadway character.
