Hollywood Goes to Broadway!
“Pygmalion,” George Bernard Shaw’s theatrical masterpiece that was taken from the Greek storyline and has been adapted into such amazing smash successes as “My Fair Lady” both on Broadway and in its adaptation to film starring the mesmerizing Audrey Hepburn, is being staged once more and promises to delight fans old and new. Presented by Roundabout Theater Company, “Pygmalion” began previews on Friday, September 21 and stars Claire Danes in her Broadway debut as “Eliza Doolittle.” Already the play is boasting strong fan dedication, never mind how many Claire Danes fans may have purchased their tickets the moment they heard that their actress extraordinaire was wetting her feet in the theatrical waters for the first time.
Also starring Tony Award-winner Jefferson Mays as “Henry Higgins” and a second Tony Award-winner, Boyd Gaines, as “Colonel Pickering,” this staging also boasts Jay O. Sanders as “Alfred Doolittle” and is being directed by David Grindley. Playing at the American Airlines Theater located at 227 West 42nd Street, “Pygmalion” will officially open on Thursday, October 18, 2007 and fans of this play are going to want to make sure that they get their hands on tickets as quickly as possible because this is a limited-run engagement that is scheduled to close on Sunday, December 16.
