This evening “Rent” will be holding a benefit event at The Canal Room for the Ubuntu Education Fund and the project being produced will be in honor of the legacy of Jonathan Larson, the man behind “Rent.” The mission of this partnership will be to celebrate life in the midst of poverty, HIV and AIDS, all of which Larson managed to do through the musical he put together that would become one of the greatest cult sensations of all time, “Rent.”

The Ubuntu Education Fund is a 56-person-staffed group that is based in the townships in Port Elizabeth, in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, that serves 24,000 impoverished and vulnerable children as well a 15,000 families with life-saving HIV services. The Fund also provides essential educational resources.
